WHAT IS ORGANIC GRAIN GROWING ?
Basically this means the broadacre growing
of crops with rotations, on fertile land, without
the use of artifical fertilisers, weedicides, insecticides,
or fungicides, and without burning crop residues, linseed
(flaxseed) being the exception.
Many farmers in Australia could lay claim to the above statement,
but here at 'The Oaks' we have a very different plan for land
use and management. Our cropping diversity and storage care
plan allows us to market a quality product year in and out,
in good seasons and bad, for as an organization we are dedicated
to great attention to detail.
Our seed genetic base is our lynchpin, underpinning our quality
production, enhanced further by mineral rich self mulching
soils, which in turn ensures balanced, nutritious disease
free crops.
Our two wheats are heritage types, and along with Linseed,
Fenugreek, Rye, Spelt, and Chick Pea; these usually constitute
our winter planting schedule. Buckwheat, Millet, Mung Bean,
Sesame, and Soybean usually rounds up our summer plant
Most crops are available throughout the year.
